A beauty pageant calling for conservation of the Himalayas was held in Himachal Pradesh on the occasion of Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama's birthday.
The Dalai Lama turned 80 on Monday. Indian artist and campaigner of Tibetan issues, Mahesh Yadav organised the Miss Himalaya contest on the theme 'save glaciers, save Himalayas'. The participating models too were excited about the pageant's theme and its aim to create public awareness. At the event, Yadav made a portrait of Dalai Lama with his blood in 'tribute' to the spiritual leader. Grand celebrations were held on the spiritual leader's birthday in the hill town of Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh on Monday with thousands of monks and followers praying for the Dalai Lama's long life.
